ABOUT

YEAR: 2024

TOOLS: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP, ADOBE INDESIGN, PROCREATE

ROLE: ART DIRECTOR, IDEATOR, DESIGNER, WRITER

This publication was created as an ode to the company launching to give customers a deeper insight on the inspiration behind the brand, the story behind the name, and product dedications. In this, you will find meaningful stories, fun ways to style the collection, and a sneak peak at the second collection (this publication was made prior to the launch).

While the entire publication was designed and ideated by me, I partnered with Syracuse Photojournalism student, Izzy Madover, to photograph my models. It was a rewarding experience sharing both of our passions and bringing a specific vision to life in a matter of hours. While having the shoot planned and fully directed, exchanging ideas and bouncing off one another was thrilling. You can find more of these shots in the Gallery

I hope to create these publications for future collections to come, and to aspire my dreams of expansion and growth by this time next year. Enjoy the read! <3

PROCESS

The first step of this project was launching the company, which happened on January 12, 2024.

There is deep meaning behind the product names, and I wanted the customer to know this. Prior to designing, I wrote all of the excerpts on paper, the easiest way for me to speak from the heart, and fleshed out all my thoughts.

After writing, I began my research on early fashion publications from the 2000’s. I vividly remember how much I loved reading these types of magazines when I was younger, so I wanted to create this same feel for anyone reading. It is fun, clean, modern design with a fun spice added to it through the use of hand drawn illustrations and bold photos. (See moodboard here)

While taking the time to find true, authentic inspiration, I hosted a photoshoot which can be seen in the publication. I directed the whole shoot, down to the shots taken, the poses, and every single outfit. The vision in my head came into fruition perfectly, and matched the exact vibe I was looking for when planning the magazine.

The design process took the longest, taking all of my ideas and limiting them down to create a fully cohesive publication. While it was hard cutting down ideas, it was also a challenge to pick and choose just which of the photos I was going to use for this.

Behind the story of theDirtyChic is a fun, nostalgic piece ready for others to read and celebrate the brand.
